August, 2010

Our youth calendar has been quite busy this summer. We are meeting in student’s homes for the summer on Wednesday nights which has been a lot of fun. I’ve been interviewing students whose homes we’re at to get to know them better as a group. We’ve also been quite busy with special events. We went to Taylor’s Falls Waterpark in July which was a lot of fun. We had 19 people with our group and did everything from waterslides, to the alpine slide, to go-carts, it was a blast. This past Thursday we went to the tall ship festival in Duluth. The highlight of our summer was our students’ missions trip to Benton Harbor Michigan with youthworks. WOW, did we see God at work. We worked with the YMCA’s kids club program and the local senior center, as well as painted a few houses during our week. The highlight for me was to see our students serve well and even stand out among the other students on the trip from other churches. Our students really stepped up and did a great job. I was especially excited to see the change in their hearts and how they wanted to come home and change their communities for Christ. I would encourage you to ask those who went on the trip what God did in their lives. . . If you ordered coffee from one of our students they should be getting it soon and will then be available for you. Thanks for your support of our students, we all really appreciate it and are thankful for how God worked in our lives. Please pick up an August calendar by the back doors, we have a very busy August with a Pinehurst park pool day, softball games for those on the team, FUSION on Wednesday nights, a worship night Aug. 5th, a going away party for Sara Anderson, a camping trip, and the chicken swap. I’m not sure there are enough days in August but we’ll pack it all in somehow. Please pray for our students as they prepare to go back to school or college. We have a lot of students in transitions and we pray God would use them wherever they are to reach their friends for Jesus Christ.
Thanks, Brian.
